Candle Care

01

Trim it.

Do you ever notice that wicks acquire a mushroom top after they’ve burned for a while? That’s normal, but it’s not the best way to burn a candle. Be sure to trim the wick to ¼” before burning to allow for a clean, even burn.

02

Let it melt.

Candles have a burn memory, so be sure to burn your candle all the way to the edge of the vessel every time you burn it. This will help prevent tunneling and maximize the life of your candle.

03

Clear the air.

When burning candles, avoid vents, fans or drafts. These air currents can cause candles to burn unevenly, produce excessive smoke, or absorb your fragrance too quickly.

04

Keep it up to snuff.

Use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame. This keeps the wick in place and can eliminate any dangers associated with blowing on hot wax. Plus, it’s actually kind of fun!

05

Know when it's over.

All good things must come to an end. When you get towards the end, don’t burn all the way down swap your candle for a new one when ½ inch of wax remains. If you want to reuse your jar, just put it in the freezer for 10 – 15 minutes and scrape the wax out!
